“A lot of the issues that we’re dealing with here locally have to do with the retention of young people,” [Brian] Watson said. “Young people will graduate college and then they don’t know where to go to work, so they’ll leave town. There’s a brain drain that takes place over here, so apprenticeships are really exciting. When we onboard apprenticeships into businesses, we’re allowing students to develop roots in the community from a much younger age as opposed to trying to hire them when they graduate from college.”
